Goals:
This course offers a general introduction to morphological data, analysis, and theory, based on a wide range of morphological patterns in a variety of languages. No prior knowledge of morphology is required.
Textbook: Booij, Geert. 2007. The grammar of words: An introduction to linguistic morphology (second edition). Oxford University Press.
Grading:
Class discussion (30%)
Presentation on any morphological topic (20%) [due April 15]
Final paper (50%) [due June 17, 5 pm, in NZ's mailbox]
Students will also give an ungraded presentation of the final paper research near the end of the semester.
